Cultural Day at St. Stepanos Armenian Apostolic Church
On Sunday, 10/16/16 St. Stepanos parishioners celebrated Cultural Day in the observation of the Feast of Holy Translators.
The Women’s Guild sponsored the event with a luncheon prepared in the best traditions of the Armenian cuisine and presented the musical “THE HYE LEGION – THE GAMAVOR STORY” by Hourig Papazian-Sahagian, executive producer and director of the ” The Way We Were” Ensemble.
Over 100 parishioners, adults and children, attended the event. The story of “gamavors” and the Armenian folk songs were very well received by all in attendance. The captivated audience was singing, clapping, and at times even laughing or crying to all the powerful yet familiar songs. The members of the troupe represented three generations of American Armenians whose dedication to their heritage and Armenian roots were an inspiration for all.
