St. Stepanos Welcomes New Parishioners
On Sunday, April 29th, St. Stepanos hosted an event to welcome a multitude of new parishioners to the church. The event took place in the Kevork and Sirvart Hovnanian Hall immediately following Badarak services. Guests from throughout the tri-state area were in attendance, and the event was presided by visiting priest, Very Rev. Fr. Daniel Toumanyan.
Mixed seating arrangements of new alongside old parishioners permitted all in attendance to learn something new about one another and experience fellowship over a beautifully prepared luncheon by the Women’s Guild. A colorful art exhibition by one of the newer parishioners, Yulia Ghazarian, also served as the backdrop for the event.
A special performance entitled, “Work or Study” was arranged by Armenian school students and teachers, which brought about much laughter from the audience.
Very Rev. Fr. Daniel Toumanyan, Rev. Fr. Daniel Karadjian, John Haytaian, Marie Haytaian, Ashkhen Tadevosyan, Richard McOmber, Azat Lahham, Terenig Terjanian, and Alyne Corrigan proceeded to offer an overview of various church groups and areas in which parishioners are able to get involved, including: the Sunday School, Armenian School, Parish Council, Stewardship, Altar Service, Choir, Bible Study, Women’s Guild, Bible Camp, Children’s Theater, and the Annual Picnic.
We thank Mrs. Marie Haytaian, Virginia Sabonjian, Mrs. Eliza Minasyan and St. Stepanos Women’s Guild for the excellent organization of this event and for their dedication and hard work to realize this very important for our community event. Abreek Aghcheegner…
Robina Lahham oversaw a gift and 50/50 raffle for the church, and the event opened with and concluded in a joint prayer by both Hayr Daniel and Der Daniel.
