Medical Workshop through the Armenian American Health Professional Organization
On Sunday, March 17, 2019, under the leadership of Rev. Fr. Daniel Karadjian, the St. Stepanos Women’s Guild held a Medical Workshop through the Armenian American Health Professional Organization (AAHPO), with four (4) medical doctors from the Armenian community, following Soorp Badarak.
After a light Lenten meal prepared, by Women’s Guild Chairperson,Sharlene Hovsepian and Vice-Chair, Norig Buchakjian, 75 parishioners attended the lecture of four (4) physicians. The program was opened by Dr. Lawrence V. Najarian, followed by a welcome from Dr. Meline’s Karakashian. The lecturers were Lawrence V. Najarian, MD, an Ophthalmologist; Terenig Terjanian, MD, a Hematologist and Oncologist, who is the Director of the Hematology-Oncology Division at Staten Island University Hospital; Nathalie Zenian McOmber, DDS, a dentist in the Freehold-Howell, NJ area; and, James Proodian, DC, a chiropractor from Long Branch, NJ.
Each physician spoke with relation to their specific field. Dr.Proodian’s talk concerned nutrition and wellness and how it affects our body; Dr. McOmber spoke with regard to dental implants; Dr. Terjanian enlightened all about different cancers, and Dr. Najarian’s lecture pertained to glaucoma, cataracts and macular degeneration.
