St. Stepanos Welcomes His Grace Bishop Mesrop Parsamyan

On Sunday, September 22, 2024, our community was blessed by the presence of His Grace Bishop Mesrop Parsamyan, Primate of the Eastern Diocese of the Armenian Church. He celebrated the Divine Liturgy (Badarak) and presided over several milestones of this day, namely the 30th anniversary of the ordination to the priesthood of our beloved pastor, Rev. Fr. Daniel Karadjian. Yeretsgin Mariam was also honored for her work in spreading the mission of the Armenian Apostolic church through her and Der Hayr’s ministry in Bulgaria, Jerusalem, North Carolina, New York State, and Long Branch.

Very Rev. Fr. Mamigon Kiledjian read a special message (prepared by Bishop Parsamyan) which recognized that Der Hayr and Yeretsgin “……have been the spiritual pillars of St. Stepanos Armenian church in Elberon, NJ for more than a decade, inspiring the faithful with their Godly conviction, compassionate outreach, and warm hospitality.”

Very Rev. Fr. Mamigon Kiledjian, who was the former pastor of this parish from 2000-2012, was also appointed as the new pastor of St. Stepanos Church. Fr. Kiledjian will resume his ministry in this parish effective December 2024.

A special Thanksgiving prayer (Hanrabedagan Makhtank) was conducted in commemoration of the 33rd anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Armenia. Quoting Bishop Parsamyan, “may our young republic continue to thrive and strengthen through the grace of our Lord.”

The annual picnic also took place on this day, which was a celebration of these local and international events. The Women’s Guild and Parish Council prepared the picnic, which was attended by over 150 members from within and beyond our parish community.

We are thankful for the efforts of Fr. Daniel and Yn. Mariam, our Parish Council, Women’s Guild, and members of this community for making this day a special one in the nearly 70-year history of our parish.
