St. Stepanos Women’s Guild Hosts Holiday Bake Sale
The Women’s Guild of St. Stepanos Armenian Church kept up an annual Christmas season tradition by hosting parishioners and community members at a bake sale and gift auction Dec. 10 and 11. Crowds eager to scoop up sweet and savory treats for their family holiday tables took a break from holiday shopping to enjoy a lahmajun lunch in the festively decorated Sirvart and Kevork Hovnanian Hall. Then they perused the tables of goodies and auction items so lovingly prepared by guild members.
Under the leadership of co-chairs Nargis Buchakjian and Sharlene Hovsepian, members prepared and packaged Armenian delicacies like choreg, tahin hatz, pakhlava, khadayif, soujouk, string cheese, kuftahs and cheese boreg, along with a festive assortment of traditional American cookies and cakes. This annual kick-off to the Christmas season at St. Stepanos is more than a fundraiser. It fosters a great sense of community and helps stock shoppers’ pantries in time for holiday parties and office gift-giving.
Very special thanks to the many Women’s Guild members who donated their specialties, time, ingredients and monetary support to this annual event.
