The celebration of the Feast of the Assumption of the Holy Mother of God
On Sunday, August 17, 2014, over 70 parishioners participated in the celebration of the Feast of the Assumption of the Holy Mother of God. The Rev. Fr. Daniel Karadjian, Pastor, celebrated the Divine Liturgy and delivered a sermon based on the significance of The Holy Mother of God and all modern-day mothers. Services concluded with the traditional Blessing of the Grapes ceremony. A very monumental commemoration also took place on the front lawn of the church property, where there was the dedication of the parish’s two new flagpoles, for the Armenian and American flags. The attendees rejoiced throughout this beautiful occasion, as Rev. Fr. Daniel and other guest speakers proclaimed the joyful establishment of the flagpoles, which were donated by parishioners Krikor & Sona Toufayan and the Armenian American Social Club of Ocean County. Before the conclusion of the ceremony, parishioners joined in the singing of the Armenian and American national anthems, among other reverent songs. Then our parishioners gathered in the church hall for the fellowship hour, where a lavish light-lunch was prepared by the St. Stepanos Women’s Guild. Throughout this fellowship hour, attendees were presented with a high school project, by Acolyte Gregory Heitman, who will be attending college starting this fall. A.K.
