Joint Cultural Mother’s Day Concert in St. Stepanos

On Sunday, May 21, St. Stepanos Armenian Church in Elberon, NJ hosted a joint cultural Mother’s Day Concert featuring the St. Stepanos Church Knar Children’s Choir, directed by Ms. Alyne Corrigan and the Lithuanian Cultural Spindulelis “Sunray” Ensemble, directed by Ms. Violeta Kundrotiene. The Knar Children’s Choir began the program singing five traditional Armenian songs, including “Gakaveeg” and “Shogher Jan.” The Spindulelis Ensemble performed traditional Lithuanian music using xylophones and crow sounders. The two groups ended the program performing “Yerevan Erebuni” and “In the Land of Lithuania” together. The event was marked with a special letter from Julius Pranevicius, Consul General of the Republic of Lithuania, recognizing how music and art can bring different cultures together.
