PALM SUNDAY BAKE SALE

Every year the Stepanos Armenian Church Women’s Guild comes together to host our yearly Easter holiday event and Palm Sunday bake sale. The amount of work that goes into the planning of these events takes months of preparation and hard work.

Hours upon hours go into baking for this event but that is not what it’s about. The woman’s guild is a sisterhood of strong, proud Armenian women who work together to raise money for our church and community. We come together to celebrate and honor the women who came before us and created these traditions. We come together, because we truly enjoy each other’s company and the traditions we created.

We are blessed to see so many new faces in our church and as our community continues to change, we look forward to incorporating new traditions with the old to help our community grow together as one.

Palm Sunday commemorates the entrance of Christ into Jerusalem. It is a reminder of the welcoming of Jesus into our hearts and of our willingness to follow him. As he rode into the city his followers spread palm branches at his feet. Palm branches were considered symbols of victory and triumph at the time. We are reminded of the sacrifice Jesus made for us.

I would like to thank all of the ladies who worked so hard to make this event such a success and honor that sacrifice. I would also like to thank the St. Stepanos Armenian Church community for continually supporting the efforts of the Women’s guild. We would not be successful without each piece of the puzzle.
